Saturday, September 26 | 10 AM - 2 PM | Caras Park
Kick off the week at our flagship event, our 8th annual ClimateFEST! 

Visit with solar installers, climate & sustainability organizations and businesses, check out our electric car and bike show and more!

  • ​4PM - Resilience Training & Community Meal: If you’ve experienced anxiety, grief, or difficult emotions related to our changing climate, you’re not alone. The good news? There are science-based strategies that can help. Join us for this (free!) engaging workshop & community meal. Details and RSVP.

Monday, September 28

  • 8:30AM - 10AM - Climate Smart Missoula Open House: Start you morning with a coffee and pastry while touring our "Little House" office space. We have solar, a mini split heat pump and we're working on a native plant garden. Drop in anytime! Details.

  • 12PM - 1PM - Garden Tour & Seed Ball Workshop: The Montana Natural History Center invites you to tour their garden to learn tips for attracting pollinators, the impact of climate on habitats, and how you can help. After the tour, each participant can make a native seed ball to take home! Details.
 
  • 12PM - 7PM - Ye Olde Repair Fair: Do your favorite togs have a tear? Stained shirt got you down? Give your garments new life at Betty's Divine! This year's repair fair theme is "Crop the Stain Away" ... but bring any items that need patches, pockets, buttons, straps, hemming, etc. Details HERE.

  • 6PM - 7:30PM - Planting Resilience Terrarium Workshop: Join us at the Missoula Public Library to learn about how local green infrastructure measures can help our community be climate resilient, from the personal to the municipal level. Create your own "mini green infrastructure" project - a succulent terrarium - to take home!   • 8AM Building Solutions: The Intersection of Affordable Housing and Climate Change: Multi-solving for climate and affordability is not only doable, it's better for everyone. Join Homeword, Missoula Housing Authority and Climate Smart Missoula for this generative workshop focused on this timely and critical intersection; event followed by an optional site visit to see building solutions in action. Space is limited; please email [email protected] to inquire about attending. 

  • 2PM - Electric Vehicles 101: Take an afternoon break with the experts and learn all you need to know about transitioning from a gas-powered to all-electric vehicle! This session will look at real-world examples of electric v. gas costs, maintenance, financing, charging options and more, with plenty of room for Q & A. Presented by the City of Missoula and Clearwater Credit Union. Hosted at Missoula Public Library, 4th Floor, Cooper Space B.

  • 5:30PM - Film Screening & Discussion at The Roxy: Enjoy a pair of short films that explore rewilding in Missoula and around the world, and the powerful role healthy ecosystems play in tackling climate change. A brief panel discussion will follow, highlighting how local conservation efforts can create lasting benefits for both people and nature. Details & tickets.

  • 6PM - 7:30PM - Climate-Smart Home Improvements Workshop: DIYs to Down-the-Road: Join buildings expert Lagan Todd, of Elkhorn Commissioning, and Callye Foster with the Home Upgrade Hub for this interactive workshop that offers hands-on demos and practical guidance to improve your home envelope, boost energy efficiency and save energy. RSVP requested by not required.

  • 8:30AM - 10AM - Solar Celebration & Catalyst Fund Re-Launch: We're teaming up with Home ReSource for a morning of celebration and building momentum for local climate solutions. Details.

  • Noon - 1PM - Lunch & Legislative Preview with MEIC: Gear up for the upcoming legislative session with the experts at the Montana Environmental Information Center. This event, hosted at Missoula Public Library, will highlight bills MEIC is watching and where public input will be critical. Bring a sack lunch and / or enjoy light snacks and refreshments provided.   • 1PM - Why the 2026 Midterms Are the Most Important Climate Action Opportunity of the Decade:  We're excited to offer a concurrent event with San Diego Climate Week! Dial in with the American Sustainable Business Network to learn how businesses are gearing up to champion climate during the midterms. Details & RSVP here.

  • 6PM - 8PM - Butterfly House & Insectarium Happy Hour: This adult-only event lets you explore the Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium after-hours. Enjoy beverages donated by Draught Works, while learning more about the impacts of climate on our insect friends and how visiting this favorite local attraction helps protect the rainforest.   • 7PM - Sustainable Fashion Show & After Party: Address the climate crisis in style and learn how smart fashion choices can have a positive climate impact! Details.​​

  • 12PM - Climate At Work: Grow Your Career & Impact:  This workshop will offer practical advice for those looking to either transition into a climate-focused career or to bring climate solutions to their current role. Details & RSVP here.
 
  • 2:30PM - Sentinel High School's One School, One Read Fair: The entire student body at Sentinel High School is reading The Boy Who Harness the Wind, by William Kamkwamba and Byran Mealer, a true story about a young boy who builds a windmill in Malawi to provide his village with electricity. We're excited to engage students in conversation about local clean energy projects during the community fair as part of the one read initiative. This event is open to Sentinel students and staff .

  • 5PM - 8PM - Cool Futures Art Show Join the Stay Cool Missoula team on First Friday for an exhibition featuring artists' visions for a cool future! The showcase features art around how our community can be resilient to extreme heat and reduce impacts of climate change. Details.

Saturday, October 3


  • 10AM - 12PM - Tree Planting Party: Join Trees for Missoula to plant two trees in Burns St Commons Courtyard and learn about community land trusts! Burns St Commons (1400 Burns St) is located in Missoula's historic Westside neighborhood and is part of Front Step's community land trust housing. During this event, we'll demonstrate how to plant a tree and discuss how to care for your trees after planting. The newly planted trees will offer shade and fruit to residents of Burns St Commons! Registration appreciated but no required.

  • 6:30PM - 9:30PM - Smoke and Art: Climate Cabaret: You won't want to miss this epic event at Free Cycles, curated by Craig Menteer and the Zoo City Crooners. Details.

Climate Ride

Sunday, October 4 | 9 AM | Free Cycles
Conclude the week with a community bike ride to support local climate action!

There are a route options for young kiddos to adults of all abilities. The family-friend Climate Protector Ride. Free to participate.

The annual pizza party celebration to follow - early afternoon!

Check-in begins at 9:30am for the longer route, and at 10:30am for the Climate Protector (short) route. Stay for lunch, raffle, and afternoon celebration 11:30-2pm.
